So I haven't really got loads to say here. I've made more geese, moved them up, and down, left and right and shifted other bits around.
I became aware that my inclination is to let things get bigger and bigger, but I know I don't want this to be a huge quilt, so am laying out on top of an old rug to keep me sensible (hence the very fetching beige background). Not so photogenic but it works for me.
Although I lay out lots of bit, it's mostly just to give me a rough idea of balance. Nothing is necessarily where it's finally going to live at this stage.
But I have ended up with a chunk that I'm fairly happy with.

Using the rug to restrict the size is so practical!
Great idea to use the rug.
Hello Kaja,
I love the way you build up your quilts with a big game of trial and error jigsaws.
The yellow ochre stripes look vaguely familiar.
Love, Muv
this is going to be a great quilt - love the colors and those birds! how will you quilt them? I wouldn't want to cover them up with quilting. a meander I suppose.
I like the way you try out various ideas and layouts. I love puzzles, so this really looks like fun to me!
Kaja, it is always fun to watch you designing a quilt! Your improv style, along with the beautiful quilts you create, really encourages me to try to loosen up!
This looks fun. The rug is jolly helpful. It gives a great idea of size and shape.
This is looking great! I like how you have used the flying geese with the bird fabric.
