New beginnings

Appropriately enough I have spent almost my whole week hand stitching, as a result of which my unblogged project is both quilted and bound (and that was a marathon).  So today is all about moving on.

Here is Inner City, and its back, ready to be sandwiched and pinned.  All I need is wadding, which should be on its way.

And here are my first seven circles.  You will see that one of my reasons for joining this project is to improve my applique, though I should point out that the hand drawn circles I start with are decidedly not properly circular. Now that I have more time I may play around with these more, but I also like them as they are, so we'll have to see how it goes. Mostly right now I'm just trying to build the habit of one a day.

Finally, today's task is to get back to the denim, but no picture as nothing has changed since I last mentioned it.

Visiting from Slow Sunday Stitching, one a day on the circles seems like a good way to practice.

Love love love your hand drawn circles--your applique looks great!! My applique leaves a whole lot to be desired--so i am hoping that by doing one/day it will improve....I always got freaked out when applique reared its {ugly} head--now i am relaxing a bit more...looking forward to seeing your "Inner City" hugs, Julierose

I love your hand drawn circles. I am taking part in this project also, but am doing it in hearts.

It'll be fun to watch Inner City being quilted! Pretty circles this week! :)

I really like the organic feel of your hand drawn circles, and also the choice of background fabric. Out of interest - do you draw the circles onto carboard so you have a template to press a seam under before appliquing? All the tutorials I have looked at seem to call for that, so I am wondering how you manage? I am asking mainly because I am getting more and more tempted to join in with this project but am not a very experienced appliquer (especially of circles!!) and would like to do circles of different sizes too.

Great circles. I'm going to join in with this adventure but will either start at the beginning of December or January.

Wahoo on finishing the "unblogged" Kaja!
Your appliques look better without the circles being perfectly circular. it has more of a handmade, folk art look to it that way.
