Sunday stash # 2

Now it's not every week I can go nuts and buy armfuls of fabric at a time, but this time my mum donated this little chap:

And some rather funky African wax prints to go with him.

I've window-shopped wax prints before but never used them (though I have used other African fabrics - see here).  It will be interesting to see how this turns out - when I get round to it.  At the moment it's about project number 6 in my mental 'quilts I'd like to make' queue.

The colors are so bright! These look intriguing. What will you make?

I'm not absolutely sure. I don't know why but these scared me a bit, so I have been procrastinating, but have taken the plunge now and ordered a few more bits of wax print, with an idea in mind.(Another Sunday Stash post, once I have them). I want to make something with an African feel, not lose them in the mix, so at the moment the idea is to team them with some of the plains I bought the other week. Beyond that, I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens!

He's a charming little fellow. Those African prints look great and will make a wonderful quilt top, although I think I'd be a little scared of their boldness too! My 'mental queue' is so long. Full of beautiful quilts and clothes. Thanks for stopping by today. I love your scrappy quilt in the next post. It wouldn't have occurred to me to use a blanket for wadding.

Thanks for returning the visit. I'm glad you like the scrappy. I have used blanket quite a few times, mostly because I lived in a really big, really cold house! As I said I like the weight, but it's hard on the hands and I find takes a lot longer to quilt than wadding.
