Third time lucky

Well this has been interesting.

Having said I needed something extra, I started playing around with some different shapes.  I tried triangles
then I toyed with the idea of something circle-y, based on these vintage samples of furnishing fabric
but realistically I wasn't going to have enough fabric for this approach.

I'm not sure what led me back to my boxes, but I went furtling about in the one containing shirts and came up with this,
which led to this.
I like it, so I'm going to do a bit more and see how it goes. I'm guessing it will come down to whether I can balance the blue and the white stripy bits satisfactorily.

Sounds like you're having an adventure again.
I can see the furtling around in your shirt box, then piecing a new
unit, now where?
I'll be back to see more.

That bit of yellow in there is very interesting! You make me want to make a run to the good will store. I have a box of shirt fabric I started but I need some more variety before I can start anything

This is coming along well. Once you added the navy fabric, it's obvious that the quilt needed that darker value. Plus the little ladder of scraps works very well.

Sometimes a new fabric is all that is needed! I bet you can find the balance you like. :)

Furtling around—that’s a new word for me and I love it! Very useful for quilters. Your variety of shirtings continues to amaze me. I think you are on to something special with the contrasting strips.

I think it is fabulous! And it is always fun when you can use the word "furtling" in a sentence!

You are on quite an adventure with this, and it's fun tagging along too. I'm thinking of heading off to the nearest 'shirt shop' for some treasures to add to my next quilt.

I like it too. I think it keeps with the overall theme while changing it just a tiny bit.

I can see you are having fun playing with this quilt. I love that floral fabric. I like what you have done with it.

Well, it's quite a while since I heard the word furtling, takes me back a good number of years!
Nice choice with the blue fabric and I hadn't noticed the pop of yellow in there, love it.

I like the blue. A hit of that here and there will add some depth.

My first thought when I saw the blue floral was something along the lines of huh? but I have to admit it works well. The floral doesn't read as such when I look at the overall design. It's interesting that I have to focus on it to realize that it's not a solid or one of those beautiful plaids.
