Taking Flight- done for now

On Tuesday I added the second side and bottom borders...
and today, by the skin of my teeth, I got the blocks for the top edge done and sewn on.  It's funny, isn't it, how long it can take to make a few string blocks.  You'll see there are more small blocks in the top, because I was using my scraps, but in fact I had more left over than I expected.  Not enough to tempt me into another round though.
That's this one done for now, so the next task is to press on with the hand quilting and try to catch up a bit.  The World Cup is helping with this, the heat is not, though I'm not complaining about being warm.

Absolutely lovely! I like how you’ve scattered the orange and aqua, and even thrown in some brown. That makes for a lovely surprise!

It came together so well; and with some scraps to spare! Enjoy the World Cup and stitching. :)

Good for you!
It fits right into summer doesn't it?
Get a spray bottle and keep yourself misted, it sounds funny but it works on those
hot days.

Wow! What a great finish! You totally nailed this one and good for you for not trying to force those smaller pieces into submission.:)

I love the contrasting inner border. It really sets this quilt off. I'm hand quilting today too but it's the Dr. Pol marathon that keeps me entertained. It's such a pleasure to just go up and down with my needle and not fuss about the points and valleys of applique. Great finish!

Great job. I was scrolling through my blog feed when your quilt showed up, and my sister commented on the lovely colors, so I showed her your gallery, and she is really impressed with your work!

Lovely quilt top, Kaja. I think it's perfect as is. World Cup actually keeps me away from stitching anything, I get too excited. Enjoy the stitching!

I know you'll enjoy your slow stitching! Here's for keeping at it for a while. It's hard to imagine that you will catch up with all the quilt tops that are stacked up but you might give it a go anyway. I'm beginning to enjoy always having something waiting on my needle and not having to think about anything except the next stitch.
