Really, really slow sewing

It's been one step forward, two steps back today.  I added black borders on the last two sides, and am happy with how they look and the way they seem to bring the centre into focus.

But I'm less happy with my next steps.  My initial idea was something triangle-based, on account of how I've got lots of triangle-y leftovers so it would be an efficient use of precious scraps.  I wondered about a  flying goose border, then something like the arrangement in the picture below (okay, they're all just slapped down willy-nilly, but you get the general idea).  Somehow though nothing is really grabbing me.

I do know that I want to use more of the deep yellow, both because I like it and because I've got a fair amount.  Looking at the photos now I don't dislike the arrangement as much as I thought, so maybe I'll stew on it for a few days and then look again.    Or I could stick with the HST squares I've already used.  See?  Completely undecided.

Stew a bit; rearrange a bit; play a bit. Something will come to you. So far I love what you have done!

The border looks great and I'm confident that you will find what resonates and works for you as you continue to muse and play.

What if the willy-nilly geese fly in a horizontal line around the perimeter of the quilt? And I like that dark inner border.

The willy nilly look is good and I like the stand out yellow

I also like that deep yellow/golden color a lot...
Meanwhile, I am sewing so slowly that--I am not sewing at all...hugs, Julierose

When you find the fabric to stretch your leftovers out you'll find the perfect arrangement, too. No rush. Have you thought of any applique?

Love the darker inner border. I find looking at photos really helps, have a break and I'm sure things will fall into place, soonish. I see you are like me in that you cut out on the floor too!

I see your undecided bit. If it was mine, I'd place border of solid fabric, like dark purple to make all that lovely triangly movement pop.

A great dark border and I quite like the flappy triangle edging alone : )
Its fab with that border, maybe it doesn't need anything else?
Though a flappy edge could add extra fun lol

It may be really, really slow sewing, but you always make it work out beautifully! Some quilts need more time than others. I'm amazed at how rich this quilt looks in depth and subtle intensity. The outside border fabric only makes this more obvious.

Patience, it will come together.
That's what I tell myself when I'm stuck.
It's an adventure.

I also love the dark inner border you have there - if you're so undecided about the next border why not just leave the quilt for a few days, I find when I do that things suddenly seem to fall into place. Not much help am I - been ill for 10 days so haven't caught up with all your posts yet!
