Quick start

More like a slow start, actually.  I wanted to participate in Ann's AHIQ challenge to make something incorporating words and since time is running out, I am going to try doing more than one project at a time.  A few of you may remember that last time I let my projects proliferate I ended up feeling like my head was going to explode, but hopefully this will be manageable.

As a result, instead of getting out my piecing this morning, I set to work printing the words I want to use.  After a couple of hours I have made some progress, but there's still a heap to do.

When I can't get to sleep (which is often) I listen to Radio 4, and then, when it goes off air, to the World Service. Between the two comes the shipping forecast and that's where I'm getting my words for this project (here's a link which will take you to today's forecast).  There's a lot to be printed, but I've made a good start and at least I have a good idea of what I'm going to try and do with them. Having said that, I don't remember the last time something worked out the way I expected!

I love the inspiration for the words and really look forward to watching the process evolve for you on this project!

I don't sleep either, but not as creatively as you do!

I never knew that was such a thing as a shipping forecast. I learned something today! Now that my R.E.M. piece is almost done, maybe I can focus on getting at least started on my challenge project this weekend. Keep calm and print on!

It's so interesting to discover how and where people get their ideas. This will be another original!
I have messed up sleep patterns, too. Off-and-on alternating with out-for-hours. I frequently get up and work for a few hours, too. Ah, the joys of aging.

I think I sleep better these days . I don't seem to here the world service and the shipping forecast very often . No .... its that I listened to them when my husband was away for work and I couldn't sleep and now he's retired . I don't maybe sleep any better but I done listen to the radio !

Your shipping forecast had me thinking: when I was little there was a farm report on the radio every day. I really didn't listen, mostly because I didn't understand any of it, but also because I thought it was terribly boring. Thanks for reminding me.

One of the reason we love your work is that you find such interesting influences for your work.
I'm trying to catch up with my blog reading, sorry that I've fallen behind!
