New circles

Today is once again the link up for 365 circles and I'm back in the game.  I'm trying something different this time, so having got the first batch sewn together (here), I'm now making little portholes using old shirts and backing them with pretty scraps - mostly shot cottons from this circle quilt (yes, I know there's a sort of theme emerging this year).  Then I'm adding a bit of stitching. At least that's been the plan up till now, and I may keep on this way but I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about a post I'd seen on entropyalwayswins.com  on quilt as you go hexagons (here) and now I'm wondering...

Anyhow, this is what they look like now (I only started again Sunday a week ago).
On another subject, I have just spend half an hour trying to find a way to transfer a picture of the random number generator onto this page so I could announce my winner of Lara's giveaway.  Yes, I'm sure it's really simple and I'm being an idiot, but nevertheless every time I get it up, the numbers have been wiped.  Life is too short, I'm afraid, so I'm just going to tell you without the handy graphic that the winner was Gene Black.  Congratulations, Gene.  I'll be handing the details over to Lara, so you can expect to hear from her soon.  If you weren't lucky this time, check out the other blogs where giveaways are still ongoing.

Your stitching and the slight gathering around the portholes adds a wonderful dimension to this group of circles. So many ways to explore these circles, I love each month's linky party just to see what everyone has come up with.

Reverse applique. What a good way to make these circles. Love the stitching, too.

Fun to use shirts, and I really like the organic look of your quilting.
The hexagons sound interesting/.

I like how all the circles have their own unique stitching. Nice!

Your hand stitching makes these incredible Kaja! So much interesting texture. I like the way the fabric is slightly gathered and hope it stays like that when you piece them together.
I've sent the book to Gene and we're both excited that he won! Thank you for holding the giveaway :)

Really interesting idea! Your blues quilt turned out brilliantly so I'm sure this will end up different too :)

Like these circles Kaja, shot cottons have that little extra I think, I know I enjoy using them.

I said this before and I will say it again, love your hand stitching! It makes these blocks so special and I love how you are stitching them differently. Enjoy!

As always I really like your colour choices. So soft in this so far! I use the Microsoft one note screen clipper and save the image from one note as a png file.

I love the look of the porthole circles and your lovely hand stitching. I've only done the Random Number image "old school," i.e., tap "Print Screen" on the keyboard and then open up good ole MS Paint program and "paste." Then crop the image and save as a jpeg so it can be inserted in the post as a photo. There's probably an easier way to do it, but that works for me.

I like your new circles. I've seen them done like this as a crazy quilting type project with different stitches going around. I've also seen the quilt as you go hexagons done with big hexagons (maybe six inch) with embroidered/embellished stitches.
