Off-centre

I am still pretty happy with how my revamped string blocks are going.  Mostly I am occupied with cutting up the originals and adding dark blue edges.  I am doing all this by eye, so the coloured bits are not exactly centred in the blue and no two are exactly the same.  I kind of like that they don't sit in neat lines.

I am also taking a bit of time to play around.  I like the blocks offset
I wonder about adding some of the little quarter blocks from my strings...
and maybe a tulip or two.
I need to try this out over a bigger area to see if it really works but at least it feels like I am heading in a more sensible direction now.

I'm glad you are enjoying the revamp and play with the other blocks now. This looks like it's going to give the breathing space everything needs to be a cohesive quilt top!

I love how your string blocks are shining in the dark. Very good effects.

I really like the lens effect via the use of the dark fabric through which we see the string blocks. Very nice.

It is so great you feel better about the piece and the direction you are going. I do like the arrangement in the third picture. Repeating those quarter squares will add a lot of interest.

I love your take on blocks not lining up. I'm working on a quilt for my 3-year-old granddaughter. Sashing between the blocks and between the rows and some are just not lining up. I had to get creative just to make the rows match in length! I've decided she will not notice the misaligned blocks so why worry about them. She will be happy to have a big quilt like I made for her sister a couple years back!

Love what you are doing, mis-aligning and adding the tulips and the other odd bits!

I just love what you're doing with the dark fabric surrounds. This is so much more 'you', it practically vibrates.:)

"Off centre," but somehow more in alignment. 😁

Keep going. I think you found the answer to getting un-stuck. Now you can just roll with. A nice bonus is that the blue helps even the small string blocks have greater impact. It's even possible that you won't have to worry about filling in as many spaces.

I think you really should add some of those lovely tulips, like yourself I do like the offset blocks, they really pop out of the dark blue surrounds.

This is interesting. Offsetting vertically and horizontally. I like the few tulips you've added in.
