Here I go again

A week of quiet quilting and I am ready to go again.  I wanted a week of gardening but it has been wet, wet, wet, so instead I quilted.  I currently have two quilts, in two hoops, in two different places.  Neither is far off being finished, so it has been time well spent.  When my hands needed a break I made piles of shirts and shuffled them about.  This is the one I have decided to use now.

This is just shirts.  My usual practice is to pull some fabrics from stash to go with them, but I don't normally have quite so many shirts in my initial pile.  There are ten here, so I am going to start with just these and see how it goes.  When I get stuck or feel that the quilt needs something else, I can head to my boxes for help.

Interestingly, after all these years of only buying organic quilting fabric, my stash is much smaller than it was.  This hasn't been a deliberate policy, but obviously the choices are much more limited.  My shirt stash, on the other hand is now quite substantial!

It sounds like you are making great progress on quilting, and I look forward to seeing how these shirts evolve into something new. :)

Navy and tan: fabulous choice! That light blue will lift the other colours. I envy your supply of shirts; whenever I go to the recycling shop they only have polyester and almost the same price as new ones. Maybe one day I'll strike lucky when they reopen.

That's wonderful that you have two quilt close to being done. What great plaid and striped shirts! I am excited to see the quilt top these turn in to!

That is a beautiful combination of shirt fabrics. The gold shirt and the others look similar to your fabric pull for the quilt in your banner for the Ad Hoc Improvisional Quilters banner.

I buy all of my vegetables "organic" but I cannot say the same for my fabrics. The choices are unfortunately too limited for me. Love your "start" pile of shirts. Can't wait to see them progress into a quilt.

I've also been buying shirts from what we call the thrift store (you have been a good influence!) but there is So.Much.Plaid. And stripes. I am finding it hard to be very inspired. I did find a fabulous one with tiny dachshunds! Hopefully with enough time and effort rummaging I can find some more good ones!

I am looking forward to seeing those two quilts quilted. Yes, here you go again, playing with shirts and pattern. I must admit I will enjoy seeing what clever you comes up with this time. Love how your design and quilting mind works!

I wish I had colorful plaid and striped shirts like yours. Congrats on getting two quilts in the hoop. It rained here a week ago but we've had four days of sunshine so I've been busy weeding and digging up a dayflower that has been trying to choke out the rest of the garden.
