You name it, I tried it

And up the right hand side I went.

This column took flipping ages.  I had houses at the top, birds at the bottom;houses at the top, birds in the middle; birds at the top, no houses; no birds and no houses; you name it, I tried it. This is what I settled for in the end.

Of course the irony is that any one of the other solutions would quite probably have looked fine if I had persisted with them.  I wonder what would happen if I just stuck with my first decision every time and didn't do all this tinkering.  Would it make much difference?  Maybe not, but tinkering is what I shall continue to do.

This is probably wide enough now, though not long enough yet, so I only have to add more columns if I fancy it.  More tinkering ahead, I guess.

But tinkering is inherent to the process of making so NO WORRIES. Tinker away and enjoy the results. I surely am enjoying watching this one evolve.

That new row really balances the quilt. I am always surprised by how long it takes to be creative. It's probably a good thing that when we are creating we often loose track of the time. . .

I love what your "tinkering" has wrought ;))) I, on the other hand, am trying to canoodle my wonky log cabins together...the edges are all evened out but some of the center logs are bowed--I guess it'll be a "Loog" Cabin hahaha--
stay safe hugs, Julierose

Nothing wrong with tinkering in my book, I think your final??? addition on the RH side fits in beautifully, your quilt is looking smashing!

Tinkering is fun, at least when there's no deadline, and what a beautiful top to be tinkering with! I don't think you can go wrong.

I really like where the tinkering brought things. Having the houses on an angle gives the top a nice flow and weight to it, I think.

All your tinkering paid off because that last column looks great! It is hard to do random or to look like you just winged it! Do you take pictures as you work on your arrangements? Sometimes that helps me notice something that needs tweaked or if I want to try and go back to a way I had arranged something but can't remember what I had done.

Tinker all you like! Your results are always fabulous; we don't know how they would be without the tinkering! It's probably better to try all the options than finish quickly and regret it afterwards.

Why do we try so hard to find a better placement when we (or at least I do) almost always go back to what we started with? I think this is perfect right now!!

So true that it often comes down to the option we decide to invest our time in. Love where your tinkering takes you to though! Your quilts always have so much to say in the end.:)

Tinkering is the most fun... until it drives us crazy. But really. What else would you rather do? You know we'll just start another one. Your quilts always speak volumes, Kaja.
