A couple of weeks ago Catherine at Knotted Cotton tagged me on instagram to share a picture of Orkney lighthouse. At the time I had six done and was intending to stop there, but there was no doubt that if I revisited that decision, Orkney would be next up.
In fact, the more of this I do, the more lighthouses I find that I want to make. This is funny as when I started I wasn't really thinking about making versions of actual buildings, more of just making my own versions of the generic shape. As it turns out, making real places is so much more fun. When I see a good one, I make a note of the name: I already have more than enough for another quilt!
But let's get this one finished first.
Linking up today with Love, Laugh, Quilt and with Patchwork Times.

I have been following your voyage of lighthouses and this one is just as great as the rest! Funny how lighthouses own you now rather than you owning them. This is a great feeling and you are lucky to experience it!
You have probably used it before, but that fish fabric is really delightful! I love that you have more than enough inspiration on lighthouses to make, too.
this is so lovely--what a fun project this turned out to be...hugs Julierose
You're on a run that's the best! Creativity is flowing, float along.
Is it my imagination, or are these coming faster these days? I think you can work from something real and still improvise. Really like this one!
Wonderful job! Love the fish and the seagulls! What a fun touch. Your lighthouses are really awesome.
Yes . . . YES!!!
Smashing -you really are on a roll now with these lighthouses!! Wonderful idea you had.
Really do like this one. Your lighthouses make me want to trek round the coast finding them all!
This is a gorgeous lighthouse! Would love to see it in real life.
Oh, I love the dark moodiness of this one! The way you did the sky and the sea is wonderful Kaja!
Another lovely lighthouse! I like how the sea has fish and there are birds and clouds in the sky. Very fun!
I would think it would be easier to have a model than create one from an image in my mind. Your lighthouses are fantastic models or not. I now have an appreciation for lighthouses!
