Stitching, musing and getting a bit over-excited

Sunday again - how did that happen?

A quick update on Little Elephant, still plodding happily along:

I wanted to take a picture that would show how far along I was, but this is so big that the only way it would work is on the wall outside, and that's just not practical right now, unless I want to show you what Little Elephant would look like soggy.  So I have settled for cramming as much of the quilted area as I could into this photo:

The denim carries on too.  All I have done this week is add a big patch to the piece I showed last time.

I am thinking a lot about what I am going to do with these pieces now, though I need to keep producing them too.  I am wondering about combining them with something else, maybe some bits of vintage blanket (which is to say they are old and I got them from charity shops) or maybe wool suiting (again charity shop).  I have some bits of both and don't want to buy new things for this project.

This is proving to be a fascinating project for me.  Not only do I have the intended end point to work towards but it is sparking loads of ideas - I may be stitching denim for some time to come, and am becoming mildly obsessed with thoughts of hand-stitching on textiles.  It's really quite exciting.

Linking up with Kathy for Slow Sunday Stitching and Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times.

Both of these projects makes me smile. :) You're making good progress on the little elephant, and the lines and colors and prints in it are perky but calming at the same time - I always wonder just what it is about a project that accomplishes such an effect, because I think it's kind of rare.

Oh no - not soggy elephants! Kaja it is really fun to see Little Elephant in close up like that and I love it even more!
The whole idea of doing textile art and hand stitching on jeans is very intriguing.

You are progressing! The beauty is when you look back and see how much you've done.

As for your denim project, we're all waiting to see how it turns out. Here's another idea: I used recycled denim to recover a couple of chairs for a school library years ago. I didn't do all this hand stitching art, but the teens loved the chairs. (I sewed the pockets closed first so they couldn't be used.) How's that for a crazy idea?

Kaja, I cannot believe how much I've missed in a week! You've been so busy, even if you think you've only been "plodding on"!!! Both these pieces are exciting and I'm getting totally over-excited myself to see where you're going with them :D
