Coming up for air

I have been sewing.  In tiny moments, here and there.  It doesn't ever feel like much at the time, but I think that when I add it all up it does amount to something.

This is where I am up to with the hourglasses.
It doesn't look like school will be going back before September, so my aim now is to establish a routine that covers all the other stuff but builds in more coherent sewing time.  Sometimes I take this out of the box and can't really recall what I thought I would do next.  That was okay for a while but now it starts to irritate me.  Let's see if I can do better.

I hope that you can find a rhythm that gets a better balance of time for your own needs. Hopefully things there are going better than in the US; we've really buggered this thing up over here.

It looks very harmonic, love it. I hope you will find your rhythm and find out what is the best for you. Wish you all the best. Someday this will be over but when...

Lovely blocks, sweet colors. I hope you will find the routine you need, and handle with all this stuff.

Outlining sets of hourglasses with the darker triangle rows adds to the rhythm of this piece. I'm amazed how much you've gotten done with so many children at home. I hope you all continue to stay safe.

Ooh, I like the definition from the black triangles! Good for you trying to realign the new priorities and still try and include quilting time. I often wonder who I am without a little quilting time and space.:)

I see that Ann is on the same road as I am in that the dark triangles beautifully break up the hourglass pieces into blocks, I think it's really effective. Hoping you can work out a routine give that you say schools may not be back until September, thats a heck of a long time although if school hols are still the same there would have been a 6 week break for Summer. Keep safe Kaja, and your family!

I recall a (twenty something) councillor once telling me I should try and find 15 minutes in each day just for myself. As a 40 something single parent of 2 children whose ex husband had died, we three losing him in effect, a second time - I thought how much she had to learn about managing home and children LOL
Im guessing the spreading that all that out and having to tuck it away more often between daily needs and routines is proving more difficult and I feel for you!
I am sure at times that hold on your 'own time' seems impossible but hang on in there.
I really, really like the way this is progressing and after all Sew Slowly IS the name of your game here.
Let it and yourself mull it over, there is no rush and it will fall into place by the end, it's already well on it's way. x

You have made some wonderful progress! The HST with the black add some traditional flavor, but in an inconsistent manner which gives it that homey look. I know how frustrating it must be not to be able to sew as much as you would like. What you have accomplished is inspiring!

I do like this one very much. Love the purple and the black alongside the light colours. You are doing quite well given the circumstances.

Add my voice to the black pieces love. They really do work.
I remember the days of children in the house, no place for ME to play, and definitely no time for anything, except cleaning. Why does that always get priority? Anyway, I feel for you. I'd love to give you advice but, unfortunately, I didn't handle those days very well. In fact, I'm pretty sure I botched them up as well as anyone. Maybe steal time from cleaning? Doesn't that sound like good advice?
