New year, new quilt in the hoop

There was something very satisfying about finishing a quilt as December came to an end, and even more satisfying about starting work on a new one as this new year begins.  Having allowed Yellow Birds to jump the queue, because I had a backing ready, I am reverting to the old pecking order so Not Speaking for Me is next up.

I've already made a fair start

but I'm not sure the red/white/blue makes for particularly interesting  close up photos.  Maybe I'll have to try something different next time.

For now, though, these will do and I'm linking up with Kathy for Slow Sunday Stitching.

Very apt timing for a finish and fresh start. I think that the red white and blue is lovely, honestly, and I appreciate the detail photos showing your very lovely stitching.

I don't think I've ever seen such even stitching in hand quilting. It's perfect!

Isn't it funny how our quilts form s pecking order? I love the combination of red white and blue and it always feels summery to me

I am glad you got a good start on another quilt. How many quilt tops do you have waiting to quilt? I don't have a pecking order and that is probably why I have a quilt top from 1980 that still isn't quilted!

The fabrics look great, maybe some whiter light? Anyway, you have some beautiful piecing in this. It will be fun to revisit!

I'm playing catch-up again. It seems that's all I do these days. I was happy to see Yellow Birds come off the hoop--it is so pretty!--but hadn't thought about which one would be next. This is a good one for your beautiful stitches. The circles and angles make for a great contrast and fun stitching. I'm curious about how big your hoop is. Not so much in size but as in how much of one quilt motif is inside the hoop so that you don't have to make adjustments too often. It seems that this quilt would work best if the whole motif were visible in the hoop. (Hint: a picture of it in the hoop would make a great post. :)
