Big city back in focus

The answer, for now at least, to my blurry photo problem appears to be 'borrow a better camera'.  I don't really know why I didn't think of it before.  The fancy Canon coped fine with the low light in my kitchen.

I have added to this on three sides today - top, bottom, and a bit on the right. Quite a lot of what you see is not attached right now, but probably will be, though looking at the photo I can see a couple of things I want to tweak.  It's funny how different things can look through a lens - but sometimes it gives me the distance I need to look clearly at what I have done.

Having said which, I also notice that some of the lightest prints read almost as plain colours here - look at that strip right in the middle at the top - that is actually made of three quite different light fabrics, but here they all look pretty much grey.  This bit looks better in the flesh than in the photo.

I'm linking with Lorna for Let's Bee Social today.

This is such an exciting quilt Kaja! I sure do love watching your process! It is funny how a photo brings out different things in a quilt and gives you a fresh perspective. I have read that people also change their photos to B&W to check the value of colors.

I got a canon the last buy. It's only a point and shoot but it's miles better than my last one. Lighting is so important too. Didn't realize color of light was so vital til we changed light bulbs in the studio. This piece is really good. I know fabrics look different in person, so if the gray one looks fine it is. You are close to it now but even the quilting will shade it. LeeAnna

I sometimes have trouble with the camera as well. I love your quilt. It's very busy in a good way!

Oh my goodness, I miss a couple days and here you go making it more stunning! I'm loving it so much. And you know everything looks better in person, except...well, people! lol I love how I see things in the camera that I missed with my naked eye. It's probably the best way that I know for seeing my work in a different way.

The photo makes it look pretty incredible to me! So interesting to see the camera perspective though.:)

I got the odd view that the "city blocks" in the center are Central Park in reverse! I like the density there with occasional city blocks interspersed around them. Very interesting to watch this develop.

This is looking really good--very interesting. I look forward to seeing you finish it. I love the perspective you get after looking at things through a camera lens--I often find myself rearranging things after I get progress photos taken.
