Next steps?

Having finished a long central column - or at least a long column I'm currently thinking will be in the centre - I am now trying to figure out what next.

I have a few wonkier rectangles...
or I could keep going with my squares but set them so that you see the diamonds...

or I could use more of my little black blocks.  Maybe not quite like this, which seems a bit over the top to my eye, but something along these lines.

Or, final option, is that maybe I throw the kitchen sink at it and include bits of all these ideas.  Now there's a thought to wrestle with.

I like that little "coping strip" on the bottom right two blocks you included...maybe more of those in between??? I do like the little black blocks set on the side --maybe to bring the eye over to another panel??
Have fun deciding where this will go..;))

I am really drawn to the diamonds play, but will look forward to seeing where these ideas take you.

Halfsquare border in your last photo looks striking.
Halfsquare triangles are so versatile, tons of fun.

I'm really enjoying the energy from the plaids in this one. So tantalizing to see just this much and know that it's only the tip of the iceburg in terms of how wonderful it will look fully fleshed out!:)

You may have to thrown the kitchen sink at it at the end anyway since you may run out of the fabrics that you had picked to use in this piece. LOL! I find that your quilts have such a wonderful unplanned look to them even though I know you spend a lot of time deciding the placement of the elements.

All the ideas look intriguing. That horizontal row of dark triangles across the middle calls for a repeat of that same intensity somewhere. Have you tried those dark edge triangles the other way around? The dark to the outside could make a strong frame. Not sure if you want that. In the meanwhile, every little detail delights. Each fabric sings. Those little coping strips just fit so well. I love the way they extend from a triangle of the same fabric. This will definitely be a treat to see where you go.

I'm not a fan of windmills and hsq's but that's mainy because they seem too regimented and they are beyond my point matching abilities anyway LOL
But I adore your skew whiff hsq's and the interruption strips you have added here n there!
They speak individuality and that a human being made the design up, not some software package?
That textiles were played with and trialled and balanced out?
I think that's what I adore about your creative process, it isn't formulaic and precise and t's aren't always crossed, which make your quilts uniquely more comparable to life itself.
Jeez that's deep isn't it, I need more coffee!

I like the way the black hsts actually divide the pieced hourglass blocks into two sections, you could play with something on the right hand side then, but perhaps you may feel it would become too ordered. Try the kitchen sink approach!

These black triangles make the difference. Very good! Not too much in my eyes. I´m always astonished how you create such a "chaos" harmony.

I love these fabrics. They compliment each other so well. The black adds a bit of dramatic contrast but it's not over the top. Your instincts and style work for you and your quilts. Just keep us in the loop.
