Keeping track

There's not much to be said about this right now, but I'm posting just to keep track of progress.
Again, this is not the final layout but I am playing around now with how the pieces fit together and won't be making more of the bigger bits unless I have a specific space for one. Instead I'm thinking about how to use the small, smaller, smallest blocks to hold everything together.  There's a bit of the bright green sneaking in, and little squares of black and tan.

Using all these light fabrics is making this piece hard to photograph - lots of the detail in the prints just isn't in this picture at all and the blue and green shirts are virtually indistinguishable. I think it's because it's so very dark I've ended up using the flash and the light is just bouncing straight off it.   I'm hoping that when I finish and hang it on the line the light will work better. If it ever stops raining I may try some line photos anyway, but right now there's no prospect of that, just water, water, everywhere.

Oh, I like the green that has 'snuck' in. Both the use of the green and tan are inspired. Hope it stops raining for you soon.

I am fast acquiring a new appreciation for working with "parts" and
no specific plan!! Yours looks like it really coming together well...

The weather is the weather, nothing we can do about it. Saying that the whole of the UK has suffered this month, some much worse than others. I like the green and tan pieces, they add another dimension.

The weather in Ontario has been pretty dismal for this time of the year as well. We do get some sunny days but not as many as we usually do.....although who knows maybe this is the new usual. At least it's still not too hot to weed the garden although the number of mosquitos are unbelievable this year. Anyhow I love where this top is going and the bright greens and tans do add a pop of interest to the quilt.

I’ve probably written this before but a friend who works at an online fabric store told me the brights sell much better than lights because they photograph so much better. But I do like living with soft colors sometimes. Keep it up.
Yes, I see those little patches of spring grass growing between the Easter egg colors. With summer traveling and more visits to family I will slow down over the summer, too.

I really like the black. It repeats what is in the sashing of the large blocks. I agree that it's hard to work with a bunch of really light colors. But, it looks like sherbet so it can't be all bad - right?

You know, that green really pops. It's just enough contrast against those lights. The ice cream colors are doing their thing, though. They sure know how to be sweet.

Adding more smaller blocks is a good idea. Changes in scale will certainly add interest along with those pops of green, tan, and black.

Yes, the bright green and darker little blocks are making their appearance, adding to the 'garden'.
It does reminds of keeping a garden and watching for things to sprout, transplanting this or that.
We've had clouds here for several weeks, it's a challenge to find good lighting for photos.
