At least I'm quilting

I'm still not feeling the piecing, though I have made four more blocks.  I could just sew them together and call it done but really I'd like to find a way to make myself love the end result so I'm letting it stew.  In the meantime I am fiddling about with scraps, doing a bit of dressmaking and quilting Taking Flight.  I'm well along the way with the quilting - everything inside the blue border is done, so I've just got the border itself and then one more round of blocks outside it.

I decided to try something new-to-me in the border and am drawing, freehand, a winding stalk with little leaves, which echo the pieced leaves in the body of the quilt.
Here's a view from the back.
I wasn't sure if this would be okay but I rather like it.  Good think really since I definitely don't want to  do any unpicking!

I really like the creative quilting. I think it adds so much to do something special like that. As far as the other project goes, don't wait too long or you'll end up doing some applique. ha!

Wow, it looks great and is a testament to your skill that you are doing them freehand. Beautiful!

The quilting looks great. Designing your border is a lovely way to personalize the quilt even more. Keep plugging away at those blocks. You will figure out a way to make them put a smile on your face!

Hi Kaja, thanks for sharing your hand quilting. It's very encouraging to me.
I'm in the middle of a big hand quilting project and sometimes I get overwhelmed.
Seeing your work really helps.

Since I no longer hand quilt I always enjoy looking at yours. Nice even stitches and a charming vine. It's more fun to freehand the design but the regularity of your waves is impressive.

Love, love, love that leaf quilting! I haven't done that for ages. Makes me want to attempt it once again, but I'm always taking the easy way out!:) It's interesting how some quilts need more time to simmer and stew. I think that's why I like having so many projects going on at the same time {which I know drives you crazy}, but it's the down time that makes me itchy. Might as well jump into something else while my subconscious is working things out!
