Butterflies two ways

I had hoped to take some photos for Ann and Cathy's Kaleidoscope of Butterflies link up this month, but despite chasing around the lake yesterday afternoon I have failed to get a single butterfly picture this month.  There are plenty of them, mostly Common Blues, as well as loads of damselflies, but nothing that was prepared to sit still and look pretty for me.

However, I have been disembowelling a lot of shirts these past few months and the more I do, the more I find myself noticing and appreciating the little details. It's a subject to which I may return,  I thought I'd share this little snippet from one of the shirts I'm currently using in the two-block quilt.

It was a large man's shirt and, I think, this was a detail on the short sleeve.

I am still slowly accumulating these butterfly blocks as well.  They look different every time I lay them out,  but this is how they came out of the box today. I like them.

I love your little butterfly blocks, Kaja! A whole mass of them will be amazing. :D

Butterflies hardly ever sit still long enough for a photograph - they seem to delight in waiting just long enough for you to be starting to focus.... gone! :)

Love how this is coming along. You will be incorporating the embroidered butterfly pocket somehow, I hope! :)

I love the embroidered butterfly on the sleeve. We Shula all be doing more of this rather than collecting extra clothes that wear out too soon. And I love your pieced butterflies. I think the changing blue background intrigues me. It's.
I've chased butterflies all month without success, too, although there are quite a few around. Thank for linking with Kaleidsoscope of Butterflies.

Interesting detail for a man's shirt!

And I like how your butterflies are coming along.

I see butterflies in the garden when I'm out weeding but not when I go out to sit, watch and take photos. Same with the hummingbirds and gold finch.

An opportune find with the pocket there. How big are the squares in your Butterfly quilt Kaja?

I love it when I find those types of details. I have even saved the manufacturer's labels and incorporated those as some of them are very cool. I haven't seen many butterflies, but today I got a good picture of the huge hawk that has been hanging around the site where I work. Since the old high school was demolished, the site has become like a bird sanctuary - ducks, geese, bluejays, cardinals, all kinds of little birds, I think red wing blackbirds, and what looked like a sandpiper.

I have great plans for a liberty butterfly quilt , I didn't realise they were butterfly blocks . Great selection of blue shirts - are your family afraid to get changed ?

The bright calicoe against the blue is beautiful, just right for June.

That shirt butterfly must be the tinyest butterfly. How cute. Love your shirt butterfly blocks.
