Making the individual pieces is slow, but I'm getting into the swing of it, so prep a few, then sew, prep a few, then sew. At the same time I am playing around with grouping them. I started off with everything in a line, but am now having a go at staggering them a bit. I'm not really making any firm decisions, just seeing how things look, getting a feel for it all.
So here are a few blocks, in slightly different configurations. I'm going to make some next in a 3rd size, somewhere between these big and small squares, then possibly add another element in, though I'm still on 'keeping things simpler' road that I started with the second walls piece and Quiet Quilt.
All the stripes go horizonally. Since you're still designing, have you tried turning some of them crosswise?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun. The colours are singing. This will keep you cheerful for weeks. AFM
ReplyDeleteLove the stripes in circles.
ReplyDeleteThey look good together, no matter the layout. All those stripes are fun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors! I like layout number 1 the best.
ReplyDeleteYour circles are so pretty. I love the fabrics you've used.
ReplyDeleteThe play is looking lovely!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I like the differences in sizes that you're playing with. The second layout is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteMiddle one - the big circles look like a smile to me!

ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting to see develop.....so many possibilities already
ReplyDeleteGood mix up, lots of interest.
ReplyDeleteLove the circles in different sizes, and the colours are great. Aren't the Oakshotts a dream to work with?!
ReplyDeleteLoving this!

ReplyDeleteLove the stripes, love the colors, keep going!
ReplyDeleteWonderful setting!!
ReplyDeleteThis is looking good. It's very planetary.
ReplyDeleteReally nice color and pattern choices.
ReplyDeleteI find with stripes you either go for perfection in lining them up, or make them wonky on purpose. If you want perfection and one or two are wonky, it is awful, so I always go WONKY! Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteFantastic mismatched sizes, love the effect! Also love that beautiful jade /turquoise colour :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving this, everything about it, it just does something for me!
