My wall is growing.
I started out trying to work outwards from the section I had sewn together on Monday.
I liked this but kept getting stuck - going so far and no further, so decided to go back to making little chunks which I can put together further along the line. I got this
and this.
I am also starting to think about what I'll do if I run out of the cream and blue fabrics I am using for edging. I started with half a metre of each, so might just about have enough, but might also fall a bit short. Usually I use a lot more fabrics in a quilt but I'm liking this one with a relatively limited range, so I'm kind of hoping I won't run out. If necessary I think I will go with using more of something that's already in the quilt rather than adding a new fabric - maybe sneaking in a bit more of the gold-y Doe somewhere?
It is obvious the quilt is really starting to speak to you; the progress is looking great.
ReplyDeleteOh, goodness. I hadn't thought about running out of a fabric. Usually that's a happy circumstance because it forces creativity. But I see what you mean. These fabrics seem to make this quilt... An interesting problem to work through.
ReplyDeleteOh boy - my eyes lit up when I saw this Kaja! It looks terrific! You know - is that dark blue one of the Moda Grunge fabrics? I think I have some of it if you would like me to send it to you. I'm looking closely at the cream too and wondering if is is also from that line. I think that this "limited" range is stunning. I see some more of that gorgeous Kaffe Lotus fabric, which is a favorite of mine too.

ReplyDeleteIt is starting to look very much like a wall, I like how it is growing. I like the idea of adding the golden fabric, that's what came to my mind as well.

ReplyDeleteLove the way this is developing Kaja. There's something about the rhythm of the blue and white - I wonder what would happen if you disrupted it with gold...only one way to find out!

This is looking so cool. I love the little spiky bits in the outer strips. They really keep my eye moving around. I love the blue and cream, but I've watched your process long enough now that I know whatever happens is meant to be and will look great.
