Concentrating the mind

Setting a deadline certainly concentrates the mind.  There's no way this will be finished before the AHIQ link up tomorrow, but I'm relaxed about that: the end is definitely in sight and I'm much further on that I would have been without a goal to aim for.

I have used nearly all the huge pile of HSTs that I made in the early weeks of this project - this is what's left
so I'll have to get on and make a few more, though I'm eking out my scraps now.

This picture shows where I'm up to now.  There are a lot of bits not yet sewn to anything, but you can see how much I've still got to go.  It's not that big a job, I'm telling myself.

There is something thrilling about coming close to the end of the scraps. It is like a race - will I finish the quilt first or will I run out of scraps first. It is a scary feeling in the pit of my stomach, but somehow it always works out, even if I have to add something unusual or recently purchased.

You are so very, very close. You can do it! :)

I just realized the extra bits on the side will not have any of the shipping news. What a nicely subtle border. Do those final rows at the end finish the news or will it continue on back?
It's certainly lovely. Unique. Interesting. Well planned.

I always enjoy hearing when you say that you're down to the dregs of your scraps. It really is great inspiration to me to continue on with using up and making do.:)

I got to the dregs of my scraps twice on the neutral/red quilt and cut some yardage. And like you I won't be finished for AHIQ. I hope it's okay to post what we do have, if so that's my plan.
I think you'll be finished with this fabulous top pretty soon. It's looking like most of the chunks are done and you've got so much already stitched into the center. If you can spare on the length, steal those two bottom rows that are not complete and add the pieces to the sides. There aren't many but every bit helps.
I love improv: everything is up for grabs and nothing is in stone till the quilt is finished. And you have such an uncanny knack for knowing just what needs doing.
