Three,six, nine

I have gone from 6 housetop blocks to 9...

and from 9 to 12.

I don't like the middle one here, (I want to separate those two red strips with the little birds) but it doesn't matter as they are reorganised every time I get them out of their box.

I have laid them out in random formations and in more orderly groupings. I have had them facing in and out, left and right, up and done. I have even contemplated slicing into them.  Right now I'm still just fiddling about, to be honest, getting a feel for things (can you tell?)

I could just keep on making on doing what I'm doing; it's good, clean fun, and I'm not doing any harm,  but really I need to decide what direction I'm heading in next so that I don't waste fabric making blocks I don't end up using.

Looks like you are having fun and staying out of trouble. Any leftover blocks can be a challenge to use in the next quilt. I like where you are heading with these.

Looking forward to seeing what direction you take. I really do like your blocks. So many possibilities.

Thank you for letting me watch you work, as I can't do any sewing right now. This is the next best thing. I quite enjoy how you do and describe your process.

It's going to be exciting to see where this goes! I love the way you have them set in the last photo, I guess the more traditional setting, but as you say there are lots of things to do with these blocks.

Happy that you are continuing on with this! I've always been partial to this kind of layout - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/574209021225722465/ or this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/179862578841920068/

Sometimes it is difficult to decide if one is using the blocks best.. my own opinion changes week to week... wears me out! I certainly like your color selections... and the variety of fabrics... really cheery.

I'm loving these! I did smile as I read this, I so enjoy reading about how you work things out! Looking forward to what comes next!

Keep going! Remember, right now any one square is 1/12 of the quilt but when you have more squares each square is a lot less dominant. it will work. Good luck1

You gave me a chuckle this morning, saying you are fiddling about with these blocks. Since you are calling them housetop blocks, does that make you a fiddler on the roof? :o)

The blocks are looking good! I really like the ones with the stripe and/or that plaid. I haven't even gotten started on my two block improv piece yet! Yikes!

It's so light and cheerful! I like that zig zag effect in the top left of the first photo. :D

I really like these blocks!
And of course you could have 24 half triangles if you slice them diagonally too lol

I saw housetops right away when I saw the first photo. Are some of the flowers in these blocks also in the butterfly blocks from a few posts back? Hmm, I need to go back and figure that out. Either way, I'm loving the idea of butterflies fluttering around the rooftops, but you know me...always a dreamer. :)
