Still doing what I'm doing

I'm just quietly stitching away, trying to get a bit of quilting done each day.  Having said I would be able to keep track of exactly where I was, by counting my squares, it turns out that's not as easy as I thought, so I haven't bothered.  I can say I'm about twenty big 9 patches down, so that's still 60-odd to go.

I'm also making slow progress with my Alabama Chanin-style piece.  This is going slower than I would like, because it turns out that if the light isn't good I'm finding it hard to tell the difference between the stenciled bits and the fabric.  I wanted the stencil to be close to the base colour, but hadn't though this might be a catch.  With the benefit of hindsight I should have chosen to go just a shade or two lighter, but it's a bit late to worry about it now, so I just stick with doing it in daylight.

Your quilting looks so beautiful in the sun. It has a calm Sunday afternoon feel to it.

Such fabulous texture on the quilting...and fun stitches that follow the fabric design on the right side!

I really like the low contrast on that second piece, even if it is hard to see to embroider. At least the days will be getting longer so you can see it better.

Slow and steady wins the race. It is probably a relaxing project. It is easier on the eyes to quilt in natural light - less eye strain.

What a stunning picture of your quilt and quilting. I just looks so comfortable and homey.

Your quilting is very pretty. I do like that stencilled piece, but I can definitely see the problem with trying to quilt it.

The quilting looks so great on your quilt! It's going to be a cozy one. Your embroidery looks amazing on your Alabama Chanin piece.

Two beautiful shots of your quilting. I hadn't considered how hard it would be to see a stencil close to the base color - especially dark colors. I hope you include a photo of it on someone when you finish!

A lovely close up of your quilting here Kaja, and I'm another who hadn't quite realised how close the colour of the stencilled work and the original cloth were.

Any progress is progress! Both pieces are looking wonderful!

Kaja, your handwork is beautiful. I love subtle, textured stitching. To me, it's amazing to see how the stitches and fabric blend together to create a peaceful, comforting item.

Thank you so much for sharing.

I already know how much I love seeing close up photos of your hand quilting, it’s very comforting. I know a lighter shade of stencil would have made it easier for you to stitch, but I rather like the effect of the current colour combination. The iridescent thread looks beautiful on it.

It looks so gorgeous, Kaja, and I'm happy to see the quiet quilt again. I think you were making it when I first started following you! It's nice to have that gap, and see things again with fresh eyes. :D

Fabulous as always, Kaja. The quilt has a lovely vintage vibe going thanks to the muted colors and texture.

I especially love the "Alabama Chanin-style piece" and its perfectly colored shades, even if they are difficult to see. The stitches really bring out the flowery shapes and gives the piece a delicate whisper of color. I remember seeing another of your pieces in this style some time ago. Love this work!
