Maybe hitting my stride

Well this might be famous last words, but I think I'm starting to get into the swing of things here.  I made an extra curve block - these are smaller than the original 8 and don't have the diagonal stripe; I'm hoping to be able to squeeze several of these out of what I still have.  You can see from the piecing of the blue fabric that I am joining all my random pieces together, just so that I can cut them again.

I also added some more to the piece I was working on last time: there's an extra little row of crosses along the bottom.

I envisage all the bits might go together something like this.

It's not quite right yet, but something along these lines.

  1. I can see that you are hitting your stride! It is really starting to come together quickly now. And brilliant way to get the most use of your fabrics - the piecing will be hard to find in the end.

  5. I am really enjoying seeing these blocks and the quilt come together. I like the organic nature of your blocks. Are you hand piecing them? Very cool!

  7. Kaja, this just keeps getting better. That space station quip made me go back and look again. I'm getting a dome, but no matter what, it's American in those colors. Maybe it's telling you it wants to live in America...luckily you have peeps who can hold it for you!

  9. It's coming together very strongly Kaja, really dynamic! I've been looking back trying to find your inspiration (or 'reason') for making this piece, but I can't find anything! I don't know why, but it feels like there's real purpose to this design, what sparked it off? I love it anyway! x
