I cracked!

After a week of dutifully making my 9x9s, I couldn't take any more.  So I cracked and tried something new.  I was inspired by Ann's comment on my previous post, and had grand ideas, but hit the bitter reality that if you only buy half a metre of any one fabric, you simply won't have enough to cut big sweeping curves, so I am trying this instead:

But it hasn't been all fun and unfettered cutting, I have kept the nuts and bolts going as well.

Linking up with Patchwork Times today.

I'm so sorry I made you crazy. Most of my fabric is half-yards or less, too, so I would have the same problem. Still, this is a good solution - curve, scale change, softer fabric. Great job, as usual.

Well, you know, Kaja, I actually think you captured the essence of Ann's idea perfectly! And, in a way that is appropriate for your quilt. This looks really good, and you could certainly do more, in the same or different fabrics, if it feels right. A little collaboration going on!

I love this and I'm new to your work, but I'm following you now!! Its like suddenly I've found sisters who quilt!

Expanding on your theme, new possibilities. It's always challenging to let new players in while keeping in mind the original score. Jazz.

I think you did Ann's "hint of a circle" just right. It's always a surprise to see where you are going. Fun trip!

Oh I love the long curve! Know where you're coming from with the half a metre of fabric problem - I too have had an idea then realised not quite long enough!

Half a metre is about my maximum purchase too, unless it's something on sale! I just get round it by just joining bits together. Great sweeping curve you've got going on there, regardless of the amount of fabric you have. Well done for keeping up with the 9x9's for so long, haha!

Love the curve & it sits beautifully there. Yes, I never really buy more than half a metre unless it's for a backing so would have the same problem!
