Circles in squares in circles

Well, yesterday went by in a blur of broken glass.  Have you ever seen a window do this before? This is the door in our conservatory.

There is clearly a point  top right where something happened but we have no idea what (and I was in the next room when it went!)

Next thing you know the glass fell out of the shower door.  And just like that the day was over and I had done no sewing, no blogging, nothing unrelated to glass...

But today I have made more 9 patches and cut one more arc.  I should mention that the arcs are serving a practical purpose, which is to make the smaller 9x9 patch blocks a bit bigger.  I'm anticipating each row being a different height but clearly they all need to be the same width, one way or another.

Next time I must remember not to take pictures on the cream carpet - it would show up so much better on the kitchen floor! (And also to straighten it out properly - it does sit flat, honest.)  I now have five 9x9 pieces and am most of the way to the next one, so if I just keep going there will be an end to the 9 patches.

For a change I'm linking up with Needle and Thread Thursday at My Quilt Infatuation.

Well, that is interesting with the shower door! Some flaw in the glass, and changing temperature or some settling in the building and pop! You were lucky that you were not in there, so that is something, anyway. :)

I like those arcs a lot. Happy sewing!

We just turned in a rental car with a mysterious scratch on the passenger side. No idea how that happened either. Taking care of those details will eat up a week or two.
I love the large arcs widening your nine-patches. It creates a great scale change.

No, I've never seen a window do that!

Oh, this is progressing nicely. I just love the color scheme too.

The arcs are great. What a bummer about all that glass! My car windshield cracked on Monday and I have to figure out how to get it replaced soon, myself.

I really like watching how this develops, a little bit at a time. I liked the nine-patches and occasional circles, but in retrospect, maybe it was beginning to feel a bit tight to me. I don't mean that in a negative way, but there was some tension there, for me. I never would have predicted how you've changed it up, but the big arcs are relaxing, giving the eyes a resting place and opening things up in a very pleasant way.

I have never seen a window do that - yikes!
The quilt is developing beautifully and the arcs are a wonderfully creative way of bringing the nine patches up to size.

This quilt is taking shape in a marvelous way Kaja. I love how you broke up the nine patches with the arcs.

Eek! What a mess the shower door made! That happened once with the back window on one of our cars. It just spontaneously shattered. Luckily we were not driving when it happened.

The design is really nice - and the colors enhance the theme.

What a mess for you to have to deal with all that glass. We once has a light fixture fall in the middle of the night. We thought someone was breaking in and called the police. It was until after they left that we realized what had happened. : )

It's looking great Kaja, really coming along :)

Sometimes those sort of days never seem to end do they?!?! Maybe a bird flew into the glass door? With its very sharp beak?!?!
