Moving slowly onwards

So, Little Elephant is now sitting nicely folded waiting for binding.  But since that is a machine job, no pictures this week.  In fact, since I hate making binding, it may take me a week or two!

In the meantime I have been getting the next quilt ready for the hoop and it's the turn of Two Hungry Birds, which is backed, pinned and ready to go.

Having used Sulky 30 for Little Elephant I am back to perle for this one, just because it felt right.  I am ready for a new project, so feel pretty keen to get started on this today.

  6. What's the problem with making binding? It's just cutting up 2 1/2 inch strips and making a couple of 45 degree stitches. I don't even bother with ironing or pinning. It will fold as you go and my fingers hold it in place while the machine zips through. Plus finger-pressing the 45 degree seams will hold those till you sew them down. I machine both sides of the binding, so it's a fast finish. You've got this!

  8. I used to hate putting on the binding too Kaja. I kind of enjoy it now that i switched to hand stitched bindings.
It is going to look great to see perle cotton quilting around your birds.
