Fading into the background

I'm still stitching away at the denim, and have decided to add in some of this purple thread.  I like the look of the heavily stitched stuff I have done before, but wanted to try introducing areas that were more muted too.

This thread is very pretty, but it's colours are close enough to the denim for it almost to fade into the background.

This makes it hard to photograph, but I'm hoping you can get the general idea.

Linking up with Patchwork Times today for Design Wall Monday.

  1. It does fade into the background a bit but I can also see that it adds a nice texture.

  2. seeing the thread alone it seems like it should contrast but you're right about it being subtle. Nothing wrong with that!
I enjoy looking at your denim work. LeeAnna

  3. That thread is so beautiful Kaja - I love the variegation! You could start a new fashion trend with your hand stitching, it's so lovely and real!
Do you remember when designer jeans were all the rage in the late 70's? I never liked the idea of having someone else's name on my butt, so I always embroidered flowers in the back pockets of plain jeans instead.

  4. This new thread is gorgeous! It adds to the denim but you really have to look to notice it. I think that's what you're going for, so it's perfect. The variegation helps to bring it out some so that it really plays with the denim well.

Feel free to comment away! I read everything and welcome all feedback. I seem to be getting a lot of comments from no-reply bloggers at the moment - if you don't get a response, that will be why.
